BIO
LK Shaw is a Creative Director whose artistic journey has spanned dance, music, painting, photography, writing, and acting. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, she moved to Los Angeles after high school to attend the University of Southern California’s BFA Theatre Program. After years of pursuing acting and modeling, a profound personal loss in 2019 became the catalyst for a deeper creative awakening. She began translating her inner world through new mediums, rediscovering her authentic artistic voice.
During this period, she wrote a poem that evolved into her short film, Love Child, which she directed and performed in. She later built the custom shoe-painting brand LØVCHLD, which gained recognition when one of her designs appeared in the film, A Man Called Otto. These creative explorations led her to pursue Creative Direction, studying at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena before expanding her education through the UAL: London College of Fashion Study Abroad Program.
Despite these accomplishments, Shaw still felt unclear about what her creative career path would look like moving forward. It wasn’t until she sat with herself and identified her expectations for a creative life that she realized something important: having dalliances with multiple creative disciplines didn’t dilute her abilities, it strengthened them. Each medium had sharpened her capacity to tell stories, and studying Creative Direction gave her the power to mindfully design worlds that are conceptually strong, emotionally resonant, and visually grounded.
Now based in London, Shaw is building a body of work rooted in expression, courage, and conceptual depth. Her emerging creative universe, Pirate Royalty, is dedicated to clarifying her own relationship to creativity, with the intention of collaborating with independent artists and using her talents in Creative Direction and Art Direction to unite creative communities. Her aim is to liberate and showcase artists who have transformed their personal experiences into fully realized creative expressions. Across her practice, Shaw works fluidly between traditional and digital mediums, offering creative consultation and drawing from a multidisciplinary toolkit of craft, technique and intuition.
